Leslie Frederick
After working her way around the country for a dozen years as a photographer, Leslie has "settled down" returning home to the Detroit area to live out her childhood fantasy of being a folksinger.
Gratefully, she has an unusually warm and passionate voice and an interesting collection of musical influences. Her original material reflects the cynicism and irony of life with wit and occasional silliness and a great hope for something better. The cover tunes are eminently sing-a-long-able, as she turns a stage into a living room and the audience is at once engaged, inspired, and put at ease.
Leslie is also the author of "The Long Road Home: in search of the rainbow" the story of all those years on the road, self-published to cd rom with lots of photos and even a couple of songs... or in paperback. A companion to the book is the cd of 18 songs called "In Search of the Rainbow"... with guest performances by Mike Dorn, Eric Easterbrook, John Finan, Charlie Monterey, and Art Wojtowicz. And a cd of 7 original songs performed January 16th 1999 at Mama's Coffeehouse is available. It's called "live in my livingroom." And there's a cd of 13 children's songs called "Kid Stuff". And there's a cassette of originals called "Worts & All." And as if that wasn't enough... the 5th album called "Version 5.0" and the 6th album called "Goofy Stuff Live" with John Finan and Charlie Monterey are available.
